Red Velvet Cookies
Prep Time:
15 minutes
Cook Time:
12 minutes
Total Time:
27 minutes
Yield:
24 cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tbsp red gel food coloring
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp milk
2 cups
Milk Chocolate Blossoms, chopped
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, use electric mixer to cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes. Add egg and mix again, about 1 minute. Add red food coloring and vanilla extract and mix until all ingredients are well combined.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix on low speed until fully incorporated, about 2 minutes. Add milk and mix for 1 more minute on low speed. Fold in chopped Milk Chocolate Blossoms, reserving ½ cup for the next step.
Use a cookie scoop to form 1 inch dough balls and place them 3 inches apart on a lined baking sheet. Lightly press remaining chopped
Milk Chocolate Blossoms
into each ball of dough.
Bake for 12 minutes or until center of cookies look puffy. Allow to rest on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.
