More than just our first location, our Tyrone store is a destination defined by the traditions and ideals that have defined the Gardners Candies brand since 1897.
The History: A Legacy of Sweetness
Our founder James “Pike” Gardner began selling candy, popcorn, and peanuts to residents in and around Tyrone and eventually opened the first store in the downtown area. In 1969, the Gardners Candies store moved to the location where it resides to this day. Before moving to our current factory in Tyrone, chocolates were hand-made on the second floor of the building.

When you step into our candy store, you’ll be greeted by a vast array of unique and delicious sweets. Browse our collection of hand-crafted chocolates, including our famous Original Peanut Butter Meltaways®️, and choose from a vast variety of delicious candies from our bulk showcase. In the heart of our store is our one-of-a-kind candy museum! There, you’ll find antique copper kettles, vintage heart-shaped boxes, old-fashioned candy moulds, and more. You can even watch a video that takes you through a tour of our factory! Stop into our museum and witness the beginnings of our business that has grown alongside the community it serves.
